Matthew 28:19-20 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
The Bible is very clear that we are to evangelize the lost, in our city and surrounding cities. It is our desire to fulfill the great commission given by our Lord. If we reap what we sow, we certainly want to sow enough for a great harvest. We are very active in visiting the lost and inviting our friends and neighbors to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
The Bible is also very clear that baptism is an ordinance of the local church and that every saved believer should follow the Lord in Baptism. This is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ death, burial and resurrection, and the new birth that results in the death of the old man, the burial of the old life, and the newness of the risen life. When we baptize believers they are agreeing to join this local assembly of believers.
The Bible teaches us to take new believers in and teach them the Bible. We do this through regular church services, including Sunday School, Sunday worship, and Wednesday Night Bible study. We also challenge them to attend the special meetings that we have throughout the year as well as special discipleship material.
The Bible teaches us to reproduce both physically and spiritually. Not only should we win others to Christ but plant churches in the surrounding cities that have no light for the gospel of Christ.
